Is this a contradiction or is it the motivation for development? Can a Cadastre- organisation come over with these challenges? Driven by technology the European landscape is changing, as is the need for location related information.

Cadastre is characterized by tradition and embedded in the legal framework and the rules of society of a country. As an important pillar stone of a state it has changed the role from taxation to a multipurpose aspect. Following the requirements of a society in the past the Cadastre has constantly legally and technically developed.

Since the last years the challenges of the digital era are growing extremely, new technology is influencing the requirements of the society, of the economy and the citizens of a modern state and the traditionally constant but slow development is influenced by enormous and a fast changing technology and changing expectations of the users.

A spatially enabled society has the need for transparency, efficiency, online access and services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, cross border services and also international developments have a great impact on C+LR. There is a permanent need for innovation.

Let’s talk about the future of the cadastre: research and development has to be combined with marketing expertise in order to focus on satisfying consumers’ wants and needs, the ongoing discussions on topics like 3/4d-cadastre, integration of services, value added functions (production costs, location, time, control), ..
